How AFYD works

Where there is interest shown in establishing an AFYDI hub in a particular area AFYDI will organise local partners to form a steering group. The steering group will be directed by a locally designated project leader to provide the logistical support required for AFYDI to operate.

Hub structure

It is recommended that a hub contains at least 6 partner organisations.

Ideally the steering group will comprise of representation from local schools, Garda youth diversion projects, school completion programmes, local Sports Partnerships, youth support groups, Inland Fisheries Ireland, angling clubs, local businesses (tackle shops), wildlife organisations etc.

The Steering groups are responsible for recruiting from their local community the coaching team, which includes anglers, to assist in the delivery of the programme.
